Pre-Conference Investigators Training

CII2025 begins with a two-day Pre-Conference Investigators’ Training (November 3–4, 2025), offering participants practical, hands-on learning led by experienced practitioners. This year’s program features two parallel tracks:
Track 1: Investigative Interviewing (OSACO Group)
A hybrid training that strengthens core and advanced skills for conducting effective and ethical interviews. The program covers the PEACE model, trauma-informed and survivor-centered approaches, rapport-based interviewing (ORBIT model), and innovative avatar-based training tools. Participants will engage in case studies, role plays, technology demonstrations, and expert lectures by leading academics and practitioners.
Track 2: Introduction to Digital Forensics (DataPort TIKO)
A fundamentals-based program designed to help investigators navigate today’s digital landscape. Sessions introduce the principles of digital forensics, computer forensics case demonstrations, and practical insights into mobile forensics and special areas such as car forensics and emerging investigative tools. The track emphasizes practical applications, demonstrations, and expert-led discussions to build confidence in managing digital evidence.
Through these two tracks, the training equips investigators with actionable skills and innovative methods to apply directly in their work — setting the stage for deeper exchanges during the main conference.

CII General Principles for Core Investigative Activities

Six volumes of General Principles for conducting core investigative activities that greatly expand on the principles within the CII’s Uniform Principles and Guidelines for Investigations. Endorsed at the 21st CII, these Principles provide more in-depth, principles-based, uniform guidance to investigators and Investigative Offices conducting these six core activities: Intake and Evaluation, Scoping and Planning, collection of Physical and Documentary Evidence, collection of Testimonial Evidence, collection of Digital Evidence and Evidence Analysis and Reporting of Findings.

As supplements to the CII’s Uniform Principles and Guidelines, each paper sets out non-binding principles establishing uniform standards to guide investigators and Investigative Offices undertaking these activities. They are purposely not prescriptive in technical details nor implementing practices. These Principles will also form the basis for a future CII Investigator Credential and CII Investigator training pathways.
